Yonder Way

Riley Vanderguilt. A normal teenager who’s arrogance has pushed someone way too far. No one really knows why Riley Vanderguilt was so mean and rancid until the day of her death when she was murdered by her so called best friend, Carla Miller.
December 8, 2003.
RILEY
"What’s wrong with you?"
CARLA
"Me?"
Riley:
"Yeah you! Why are you so damn nice all of a sudden?"
Carla:
"Excuse me? That’s just how I am Riley, what’s wrong with that?"
　
Riley:
"What’s wrong is you kissing ass all day just to get people to like you when you know that they only feel sorry for you."
Carla:
"Riley, don’t go there with me. You’re my friend, why are you acting like this?"
　
Riley:
"Why are YOU trying to steal my life?!"
　
Carla:
"Wait Riley, I’m not trying to steal anything from…"
Before Carla could even finish her sentence, she got a hand to the face from Riley. Riley screams out of anger,
Riley:
"I can’t stand you! Shut up!!"
Riley raised her hand to strike Carla in the face again, but she was stopped cold as Carla revealed the gun that she had hidden in her purse.
Carla:
"How dare you? You were my friend Riley, why would you ever do something like that to me?!"
Riley stares into the barrel of the gun, trembling with fear.
Riley:
"Carla wait, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean any of what I just said I swear!"
Carla stares at Riley with absolute disgust.
Carla:
"Now you say you’re sorry? After all the times that you embarrassed me and lied to me? NOW YOU SAY YOU’RE SORRY?!?!"
Tears start to fall from Riley’s eyes.
Riley:
"Please Carla, I’m sorry! I’m not lying to you Carla, I’m telling the truth!"
Carla:
"It’s too late Riley, I’ve had enough of your mess, EVERYONE has had enough of your mess!!"
Riley:
"Carla…"
Carla:
"SHUT UP! You know, all those times that I told you my secrets, and you turned around and told everyone in the whole school? Why would you do that Riley? I thought you were my friend!"
Riley:
"Carla, I never did that I swear."
Carla:
"You liar! You told everyone about me being gay, and about my mother being in jail. When people found out everyone was determined to make my life hell!"
Carla looks at Riley. Her anger starts to consume her at the very sight of Riley still breathing.
Carla:
"I loved you Riley! When you told everyone about me, I died. My soul just gave out and died because of you!"
Riley:
"Carla, please forgive me!"
Carla:
"I wish that I could. I wish that none of this ever happened. I wish that I never wanted to be with you Riley."
Tears start to fall from Carla’s eyes. Riley slowly starts to walk towards Carla.
Riley:
"Carla, I can change that. I can fix everything for you if you would let me try."
Carla:
"How Riley? Tell me how."
Riley:
"We can run away, just us. No one will ever know. We can be together, we can leave everything behind us Carla. We can start over."
Carla:
"Why would you want to do that?"
Riley:
"Because, I still love you Carla."
Carla stares into Riley’s eyes one more time as she aims the gun towards Riley’s heart.
Carla:
"I’m sorry Riley, but it’s too late."
Riley:
"Carla, no, please!"
Carla:
"Goodbye Riley."
Carla pulls the trigger. Staring at Riley’s cold lifeless corps, she aims the gun to her head.
Carla:
"We’ll be together in hell."
There’s a big bang. Moments later, someone sees the bodies and screams for help.
